“To our ancestors, the Empyrean was known as “the highest heaven”. It was thought to be home to celestial beings made of pure light—the source of all creation.”

The Empyrean Gate is a sixty-foot diameter shade structure, hosting 25,600 LEDs arrayed in 64 spokes and 8 surround sound speakers, was lofted twenty feet in the air, its 13-foot center void aimed at the Empyrean. Debuting at Burning Man in 2022, near Esplanade and 2:45, it drew as many as 300 participants and a dozen ‘art cars’ at a time, every night of the annual event.
